I was - and sometimes I still am - afraid of a situation in which my skill level does not suit anyone because everybody fancies a big Flash based jungle of scripts for his home page. All of a sudden I decided to tell myself - without giving up learning Flash as a plus - that: Hey! You can do simple but elegant designs that these Flash crazy people cannot even think of! And I promised myself to never use any ready-to-go web template because I felt that the value in my work is to begin from the scratch to reach a final simple but good looking design with colors dancing in harmony. A ready-to-go is good and fast and as expensive as an original design here but what the hell? It is not unique! I keep telling my clients that I deliver them a design that's theirs. This is my value inside. Even though I discovered it before reading this post I appreciate Dav'es great work because it gave me the confidence I needed to believe in my way, think in my way, and design in my own way. After that "A-HA moment" I saw that this is going to be slavery for the things I know even better than those with papers out there. I had a bachelor in applied mathematics and they had masters in so and so IT science. In a week I studied more than 800 pages of how to design with CSS without using tables and how to create beatiful web designs. The week after I charged for 100$ to design and build a static website plus 30$ per hour for any kind od support. My fiance said: "You will lose all the customers soon. They are not going to pay you that." My fiance is now regretting saying that. Why? Because I do charge people for what I know they cannot get even with 200$ a page! Guys! This thing Dave says works!
