Christine O’Kelly Made Me Do It …
Written by Dave Navarro on February 4, 2008
If you’ve been reading this blog for long, you’ve probably seen the interview I did with Christine O’Kelly (selfmadechick.com) where she talks about how she built a 6-figure freelancing business by using a few simple principles.
If you’ve been reading her blog, you’ve seen that she just released an eBook called How I Built A Profitable Freelance Business for Under $50 - (And How You Can Too!) for a pretty low price (just $12).
And in today’s blog entry, she reveals that in the last 12 days, she’s sold over $1,000 worth of copies and every one of her readers (including me) loved the damn thing.
Seeing her success in this “non-launch” made me do a double take and ask myself, “I wonder what would happen if I released the Early Riser program for $12 (instead of $27)? Would some of my readers who were “on the fence” decide to give it a try?
So here’s my experiment: I won’t go 12 days like Christine did, but for the next three days or so (or until 100 copies are sold), I’ll offer the program for $12. After that, back to $27 it goes. You can download it here:

You really should check it out. It’s nearly two hours of great coaching, boiled down into 20 bite-sized strategies that can make it virtually painless to start getting up early with the passion and energy to make more money. Even has printable worksheets to make it uber-easy.
Thanks for the inspiration, Christine - even if you didn’t know you did it! ![]()

To your success -

This is awesome Dave - 12 is a great number!
Seriously everyone, Dave’s programs are AWESOME - I’ve got the full-on $147 30 Hour Day program and it’s phenomenal.
If you want to learn time management, this is the guy to learn it from… when I was listening to these HOURS of audios I was thinking… how in the hell does he have time to do all of this?
These audios are well planned, perfectly executed, they come with worksheets - the whole package. If that weren’t a feat enough, I know that Dave has THREE kids, is a time management coach, and writes consistently killer posts on Freelance Folder all while creating a full on audio coaching program.
If you don’t have kids, you may not understand how much time they consume. I only have two and I don’t get half as much done as Dave accomplishes. Obviously, he knows something about time management that I don’t.
Dave, I need this right now. I used to set my alarm for 4 am and jump out of bed to get started on my day while everyone was asleep. I got more done in the hours between 4am and the 7am school rush than during the entire remainder of the day.
But lately… I’ve been getting up later and later - because I’m just not as excited as I used to be… that sucks. I want to get back to that so I didn’t hesitate to get this at $12.
Certainly, what I could accomplish by getting up earlier for just 1 day could net me far more than $12. In fact, just for fun, I’m going work on some passive income stuff in the early am and to attempt to calculate how much this $12 investment turns into… I’ll let ya know
This is a great deal - thanks so much Dave!
Thanks so much, Christine!
I hope I get as much ROI out of your freelancing tips as you’re getting out of my audios …
Thanks for the inspiration … but now, the competition is ON! I’ll bust your record yet!
(Just kidding … my 145 RSS readers don’t compare to your 1080 … but I’m inching forward …)
I’m stunned.
When I downloaded the program I half expected a single PDF and an MP3 or two. Instead, the zip file was filled with files of information.
This package couldn’t have come at a better time. For the past couple of weeks my energy has been flagging and my whole routine seems to have fallen by the wayside. I needed something to get me back on track and this looks like it might just be the key.
It’s clear a lot of time and effort went into the production of this package and I feel like I’ve just been handed a marvelous gift.
Thanks, Dave! Tomorrow’s a new day and I can’t wait to get started!
Yeah … maybe I should have mentioned the package was 50+ megabytes!
Two hours of audio compresses only so much …
It’s all good. Thank the internet gods for high speed, eh?
Absolutely … for my “30 Hours a Day” program I had to split it into 4 downloads because it was over 100 MB!
I have a question as a consumer. I really am interested in everything you offer - but I don’t like multimedia and prefer to read. When you have kids, sitting down to listen to audio files is impossible. I get 4 minutes into the clip, and then I have to either pause or stop to go do something else (see why I need your programs?)
But I do get some time to read. Do you offer written transcripts of your audio files?

I’m 100% with you (I’ve spend almost a decade in the e-learning industry, so I’m used to the idea of different learning modalities).
The *entire* program is in PDF form as well, so you don’t even have to listen to the audio if you don’t want to. Having 3 kids myself, so I totally understand about the interruption factor.
And most of the 20 minisessions are brief enough to be listened to without interruption as well.
The MP3s can easily be burned on CDs for use in the car to listen to when you’re on your commute … (wait a minute … you’re a freelancer! You work at home!).
Regardless, there’s something for everyone …
That’s very good to know. *heads over to the sales page*…
[…] it for now … on to work on tweaking the Early Riser sale I’ve got going on now through Thursday (Take that, Christine O’Kelly! […]
Now that’s a good idea! I totally loved the 30 hours a day program, so I have a feeling I’ll like this one too

“virtually painless to start getting up early” - man, that right there is enough for me to click ‘download’! Will give you my feedback real soon
Dave? This ebook is awesome, seriously. I’ve taken courses in sleep disorders and this information is rock solid - and man, it reads so damned well, too. You should’ve taught my course!
I think you deserve to know that you did an outstanding job on this and it’s worth every penny.
I already get up at 5am every day, but there’s a ton of info in here about the right way to get to sleep and *that*, I could so use.
And the midday slump? I’m very thankful it isn’t cause by age.
Because I’m not old. Yet.
I’m still reading - but today I was up at 5.30 and got a lot done! I’m just hoping the newness doesn’t wear off and I can keep it going. One day at a time though, eh?
@Jon -
Keep in mind that you may not be up so early if you and your band are out until 3am playing at dance clubs
@James -
Keep me posted on how the “easing into sleep” sections do for you. That’s 1/2 the battle.
@Harry -
Glad to hear you got up early - the “newness” won’t wear off … if you keep reinforcing the “new” habits each day. That’s why people think the “newness” is a factor in the first place … it’s not that something gets old, it’s that people stop using the same thinking patterns they started out with (which is easy to do once you establish a habit and get ‘comfortable’ … you think you can coast :-))
@Dave: You nailed it: Coasting. My god, man, you’re amazing. Have you always been like this? Or was it some major turning point in your life that brought you to where you are today dishing out all this great advice?
Harry,
Well, I’ve been working on it for a long time … had a pretty rough childhood and basically the kindness of strangers saved my ass … and I’ve been trying to give back ever since
Well, you did it, Dave. You sucked another $12 out of my PayPal account. I hope you’re happy.
Well, you should be happy, because I’m enjoying the program a lot!
I’m looking forward to much more productive days over the next few weeks.
@Joshua -
LOL - you beat me to the punch. Glad we’re both happy. Keep me posted on this thread with how it’s going.
